The tastiest Indian food you've been meaning to try, but haven't yet for personal reasons.

The Scene
If you define an ''India-like atmosphere'' as an abundance of red, yellow, and green lights shining while Indian music plays on loudspeakers, then India Garden is capital-a Authentic. The clientele is both exotic and everyday: international students from Asian countries, Pitt kids whose palates extend beyond Forbes-Ave burger joints, professors of obscure subjects.
The Food
Do not fear curry. Like most Indian places, the Garden will spice your food on a scale of 1-10, 1 being indistinguishable and 10 being fire in your mouth. The menu is organized by meat (chicken, lamb, beef, seafood) with a section of Biryani dishes, all rice-based. A good first-time choice is the Shahi Korma (available with beef, chicken or lamb), meat in a lightly sweetend brown sauce with almonds. It, like all meat dishes, is served over Basmati rice, the best rice you'll find. Daytime is dominated by the lunch buffet, menu-ordering can get tough. Waiters are busy clearing plates, and with all you can eat for $7.45 you're wise to take them up on the offer. For those on the go, get the ''lunch pack'': two entrees, nan (delicious flatbread), rice and vegetables for $4.95.
